Long time, no post...

Wow, the month of May absolutely flew by! We had a ton of stuff going on last month, but we're now relaxing down at the beach, enjoying a laid back week before heading home, and jumping right back into our busy schedules. Here's what we've been up to....

Birdfest '08:

After missing Birdfest (a bluegrass festival at a family farm) last year due to being 7 1/2 months pregnant and miserably hot, we made it back this year. We took some friends, a blanket, a cooler and lots of toys for Em, and we had a great time. Emory LOVES music (I'm assumming it's because she listened to it every day for 9 months while I was pregnant and teaching dance), and the bluegrass was no exception.
Making messes:

This is what I walked into one day after Emory was playing in her room for a while. It never fails...she plays with her toys for about 2 minutes, then crawls over to her bookshelf and pulls down every single board book on the bottom shelf. She spends what feels like hours (really about 20 minutes) flipping through her books and talking to herself. This particular day I found her standing up and reaching for the books on the second shelf, and she was grinning a "I know I'm doing something I'm not supposed to" grin. Needless to say, the next thing on our to-do list is to bracket her bookshelf to the wall.

Memorial Day Weekend at the Beach:

We headed back to the beach for the long weekend. The weather was beautiful and Emory got to sport her bikini for the first time! She also got to look pretty cool in her pink shades. :) Unfortunately, Saturday night Emory got a fever and wasn't up for anything but being held the rest of the weekend. Sunday and Monday on the beach was mostly crying and napping. She did perk up for about 5 minutes to eat some of my french fries!

Playing in the toy basket:

I was trying out a new technique since Emory was getting in my way while I was packing her stuff for the beach...

Putting her in her toy basket!

For a few minutes she thought it was fun...

Then she realized she was being held captive and wanted out...

She was determined to escape...

The whole ordeal proved to be upsetting...

And exhausting!

Helping mommy pack and hanging with daddy:

no details, just cute. :)

Back at the Beach:

Emory was back to her old self this weekend at the beach. She crawled around eating sand and splashing around in the water in her bucket. She crawled down to the water and got clobbered by a wave again! This time she didn't fall over, and the water was much warmer than in April, so it wasn't too bad. She was covered in so much sand and sunscreen that we had to strip her before taking her into the house to have a bath.

After her bath, we played dress-up in a cute little tutu onesie that my grandmother bought her. It was absolutely precious, and it made me change my "I'm not gonna force her to dance if she doesn't want to" philosophy...she's too cute in the outfit to not make her dance!!

Whew! That was a long post! Sorry! Now we're caught up.

I love the "I know I shouldn't be doing this" grin!
