She was nice and tired by the time we got out, but still was crawling out of my arms to get back to the water. She got home just in time to eat her lunch, take a bath, and is now well past 2 hours of napping. Get your autograph now...you may very well see Emory in the 2020 summer Olympics! Along with Baby Granger of course. :)

Learning to swim...
...well sort of. Emory is taking swim lessons, but just to get her comfortable with the water. I don't expect her to be able to join the swim team this year or anything. (A lot of people questioned why I would take her to lessons when she clearly wouldn't be able to learn at this age.) I was wondering if it would be worth it too, but not after her first lesson! She loved it! As soon as we got in the teacher gave her some toys just to get her used to being in the water. She quickly picked them up and began to chew on them. (Gross considering all of the swim classes use these same toys, but I figured I had to get over that quickly.)
The the teacher got out her baby, which she uses to show all of the swimming positions. Emory recognized that it looked a lot like her baby and literally almost jumped out of my arms trying to get to the baby. She also said "baaaaay-bee" like a hundred times after that.
We practiced floating on our tummy and after a few gulps of the chlorine filled water, she decided it wasn't very tasty and made her cough.
She actually started getting the concept of kicking her legs when she was on her stomach and after a while started to doggie paddle with her arms to get to me. Again, I like to think she is a genius, but I think that may just be instinct. :)
We started to ease into putting her fact in the water, but didn't actually get that far. She did start to figure out that as she was getting closer to the water, she needed to close her eyes and mouth. Next class I'm sure we'll take the big step of dunking her all the way under.
We practiced floating on our back and kicking. She wasn't quite a baby genius at this one, but we'll get there I'm sure! :) She just kinda hung out while her teacher kicked her legs for her. They swear that by the end of the lessons, most babies will lay back and float all by themselves in the water, but we'll see.
At the end she just got to splash around and play. She splashed and played so much that her bathing suit kept falling off!
