Emory Turns One!

Although we were having a birthday party for Em on Sunday, we wanted to celebrate on her actual birthday, July 9th. So we got together with just our families and had dinner.

I can't believe our little girl is already a year old!! It seems it was just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital!

She thought it was very entertaining that everyone was singing to her! Check out the cute pig cupcake she got that night! Unfortunately it wasn't very tasty, but cute nonetheless.

She applauded after "Happy Birthday" was over. Too cute!She was a little hesitant to dig into the cake, so I had to help out.
Then she decided to share with her Granddaddy...
And then there was the face dive into the cupcake!
She tried to grab the icing off of the top, but then discovered she didn't like it all over her hands, so that was the end of that, and we went onto presents...
Emory sleeps with a bear named "Douglas" everynight. He was a gift when she was born, and somehow it's the thing she has become attached to. She will not sleep unless he's in the crib, so of course he never gets washed, because I can't seem to get him washed and dried between naps/bedtime. So I ordered another one a few weeks ago as a "backup" and I wanted to see what she would do if she opened him...this is her giving Douglas a big hug after getting him out of the box! There was also a kiss. :)

Uncle Ryan & Aunt Mary were sweet enough to give her this precious bib. Emory comes to me when she's sleepy, scared or not feeling well, but when she's awake and happy...she's definitely a Daddy's girl!
She's getting so big...she had her 1 year check up the next day and weighs 17 pounds 11 ounces. She also had to get 2 big girl shots, chicken pox and meningitis, but she was a trooper and didn't fuss much. She's been crawling for a while, as well as cruising around furniture, but she's yet to walk. She's done with baby food, formula and her bottle, so the only sign of true "babyness" is that she needs a diaper and pacifier! How did this happen so fast!?!?!?
