Omaha

Last summer Aaron and I made plans with my cousin Bryan, his wife Cat and their son Olin (he's just six weeks older than Em) to make a trip out to Omaha to watch the College World Series. Fran (Bryan's sister) and her kids decided to drive from their home in Colorado to meet us for a couple of days, and my Aunt Frankie and her sister Betsy also came for part of their road trip. It was an awesome trip overall, but we had a few rough days to begin with. :( Starting with the flight out there...
We get to Charlotte at 5:00am for our 6:00am flight, get through security, board the plane, taxi out to the runway...then we sit there for 3.5 hours!!! Yikes, so we taxi back to the gate, get off, find another flight, change a bad diaper, feed Emory, find the nearest bar and order some much needed Bloody Marys!
Sadly, that wasn't even the beginning of the bad travel day. Flight #2 went fine, then we board our final plane and sit at the gate for another hour and a half because the pilots weren't there yet!! Of course when we got to Omaha our luggage was nowhere to be found, so from the airport we had to make a pit stop to get diapers since I had only packed for the 4 hours it was supposed to take us to get there...not 13! Luggage finally arrived VERY late that night, but smelled horribly of smoke. :( Day 2 we were hoping to wake up and start fresh, but unfortunately we didn't really know how to go about the games as far as how early you have to go to get a seat (there isn't reserved seating other than season ticket holders). We got in to Game 1, but couldn't really see anything. We got some food and let the babies play a little...
Then after a few innings, decided to leave and try a different plan for Game 2. We headed back to the hotel and the babies played some more. They were fascinated by the mirrored closet door and played there a while.
The next morning we were able to get some reserved tickets for the night game, so we took the morning off and headed to the zoo.
We all had a great time at the Zoo, but I think eating ice cream ranked very high on Em's list of favorites!

We headed back to the stadium to meet Frankie and Betsy for Game 4, and it was the first of our wonderful Omaha baseball experiences...finally! Emory took a quick nap during the game and was refreshed to leave the game and meet Fran and her kids for dinner.

A quick pic of all 6 Watson greatgrandkids. It was so nice because the older ones loved taking care of the babies and it gave the Mommies some free time!

Game 5: we got reserved seats again AND were able to get seats in the shade (for the most part)!

Emory had a banana at the game and decided she wanted to put the entire last quarter of it in her mouth. It was difficult...

but she did it!

Emory and Olin shared a seat for a little while...too cute. :)

Outside the stadium at the statue...apparently it's famous??
The whole group...

Just the Dupree Family...

Aaron was very jealous that Olin could walk already!

We scored shaded seats for Game 6 too!! It actually got a little chilly without the sun, but Emory didn't lose spirit, she cheered the whole time...literally...like for 30 minutes straight...we finally had to take her out of the game, because she wouldn't stop. I think she was just deliriously tired at that point.

I didn't take pictures the last day, but we had another good one. We had a blast in Omaha and hope to do it again in the next few years. It was also great to get to spend time with family that we don't see too often. We miss them already!
