Thanksgiving Weekend

After anxiously awaiting the long holiday weekend, Thanksgiving seemed to fly by much too quickly. Although it ended too soon, it was a memorable one.
We started our Turkey Day with Aaron's side of the family...lunch at his mom and Bob's house. It was delicious, and was Emory's first real "holiday" meal. She sat at the table and ate turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cheese carrots, and squash casserole just like one of the adults. As if she wasn't full enough, she treated herself to dessert...2 scoops of ice cream and a few bites of pumpkin pie! Needless to say, she ate herself into a food coma. She worked some of the calories off by terrorizing the dogs behind their gate, running around the back yard and watching the "hish" in the pond. We also were excited to hear some big news...Aaron and I will finally be an uncle and aunt!!! Congrats Ryan and Mary...we look forward to meeting the newest Dupree!

After a long nap back at our house, Emory got to open her "Thanksgiving Basket". I had a few little things I had gotten her for Christmas (some pjs, a Christmas DVD, her nativity set, etc) so we started our little Thanksgiving tradition of kicking off the Christmas season with a Thanksgiving Basket full of treats! Aaron thinks I'm a huge dork when I do things like this, but look who took all the credit when he realized she loved everything in it!
Off to my parents' house for dinner on Thanksgiving night. We had fun, as always, just hanging out and watching Emory play. She practiced her "mad face", was officialy introduced to my dad's "wide mouth frog" joke (she loved it!), and of course had a little night cap (Aaron's Crown on the rocks) before we headed home. She didn't actually get anything but ice...we think. ;)

Friday morning we went to pick out our Christmas Tree at the Farmer's Market. Emory was in the worst mood when we first got there, then when we were trying to get a picture, Aaron tickled her to get her to smile, and suddenly she turned into the happiest baby ever! I'm always the one behind the camera, so I was glad my mom got some cute pics for us with me actually included.

My goal was to be completely done with Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving, and while I didn't quite get it done, I'm so close to being finished I can taste it! A few more gifts to go, then I can sit back and enjoy the season...bake some cookies, visit Santa and curl up next to the fire to watch Christmas movies!
