Tailgating

The past couple of years we’ve tried to make it to a football tailgate or two with the kids. As they’re getting older, they are becoming big Carolina fans and really enjoying the excitement of game days. Emory has gotten to attend an actual game just once before, but for now we’re gonna stick with the tailgate and run plan, leaving to go home as everyone is heading into the stadium.

Aaron and I loaded the kids up and headed to tailgate for the Navy game. There happened to be a random cold front which made it feel like fall instead of the normal mid-September heat. Perfect for a football Saturday. Perfect for corduroy football outfits.

It was the Little Man’s first experience tailgating and he seemed to love it! He loves attention of any kind, and there were plenty of people there to shower him with it. imageimage

Bumping heads with Granddaddy. Because that’s what Granddaddy likes to do. {The kids love it too.}IMG_3402

This little cheerleader loved wearing her uniform and dancing around as the band played music. image

Granddaddy tried to share his cigar with her and she was totally grossed out. {Please be as grossed out by that kind of stuff in 12 years as you are  now, Emory!!}image

And this kid just posted up by the food table. Are you surprised? It’s just what he does. He mostly ate boiled peanuts. imageI always try for a family picture if we’re somewhere that the kids are decently dressed, there’s someone else to take our picture and Aaron isn’t in the position to get annoyed if I make him stop talking to someone to pose for five minutes. Those three stars almost never align, which is why we have no family pictures. But today was an exception so we gathered the troops and tried to get everyone to smile at. the. same. time. Yeah right. In my dreams. IMG_3423This was as good as we got. And it’ll be a keeper, because if I wait for the perfect picture…one that I like of me…one that everyone is looking the correct way…one where all persons involved are wearing something that doesn’t scream ‘My mom is so behind on laundry!’…well then I’ll just spend my whole life waiting. And that would be no fun, because there’s a lot of fun to be had with my little family.  IMG_3416

We had a great time at the football game and maybe one day we will brave the stadium and actually see some football. Maybe. For now we’re just happy to make it to a tailgate!

Go Cocks!
