Or shall I say pARRRRty? I’ve felt the need to insert as many ‘arrrrr’s at possible for this event.
We celebrated our new three year old with a party reflecting his current obsession. {Although I’m thinking it’s only become his obsession because I’ve been pushing pirates ever since I decided to go with a pirate theme for his party a few months ago.}
We stocked up on plenty of food for the Buccaneer's Buffet…
Cap’n Cupcakes {using these free printables}, Matey Marshmallow Pops…
Fresh Catch of the Day {goldfish} and Scallywag Sandwiches {chicken mini biscuits from Chick-Fil-A}…
And Sword Kebabs {fruit skewers}…
Daddy helped turn a big piece of plywood, some pvc pipe and an old sheet into The Jolly Roger. We filled a bunch of small black balloons {cannonballs!!} with water, and had the kids ‘attack’ the ship.
And no pirate party would be complete without forcing someone to walk the plank!
As our party guests arrived, they could grab a few pirate accessories and dress up. This was one of Watson’s favorite parts, and every day for the week leading up to the party he would ask, ‘Is my friends gonna dress up like pirates wif me??’
And Watson’s second most favorite part of the party was having William there. He and William mostly played by themselves while the rest of the party was happening all around them!
The cannonball toss was a good idea in theory. The kids loved it, but with such a young age group, it was hard to do it in an organized fashion, and we went through the balloons in about 3 minutes.
Walking the plank was something I thought was cute, but wasn’t sure how interested the kids would be in it. Turns out, they loved it and lined up over and over to walk across and jump off the end.
{I am trying really really hard to not let it bother me that the crates are blue instead of black and that the sticker wasn’t taken off the end of the plank. Can someone fix those in photoshop for me?!? I’m kinda serious…}
Somehow I forgot to to take any pictures of our treasure hunt. We had a few galvanized tubs filled with sand and pirate prizes and the kids could dig for the treasures.
Some of the littlest ones stuck close to the food table {and shade!}…
Too bad my photography skills were less than stellar and most of the pictures turned out really overexposed. I tried to salvage a few pictures of this very serious sword fight between Hannah, Watson and William!
The birthday boy was all smiles when we sat down for cupcakes…
But quickly clammed up {just like his big sister does} when it came time to sing.
Thank goodness for Hannah, who helped him blow out his candle!
His big sister and little brother enjoyed the cupcakes too.
One enjoyed it a whole lot! And needed quite a bath after the party…
Happy happy birthday to my most favorite little pirate! I can’t believe it’s been three whole years since we’ve welcomed you into our family, and now we can’t imagine our lives without your spunky, yet kindhearted and sensitive personality in it! We love you Captain Watson!!
