Not only is it hard to imagine we’ll be meeting baby number four in less than two months, but I can’t believe Baby Mak will be here just after! Kat, Jo and I threw a shower for Boo and Baby Mak in hopes of helping her prepare for his arrival.
We went with a nautical theme and decorated with some appliqued and monogrammed onesies and burp clothes that she could then take home and use. We used the family cradle to hold some gifts. My kids have been the fourth generation to have used this cradle, and while I’ll be sad to let this family heirloom go, I’m happy to pass it along to the next set of babies to enjoy!
Mak’s bedding is a navy and white chevron pattern, so I covered some chipboard letters in the same, in hopes that they can be used somewhere in the nursery.
And no baby shower is complete without a diaper cake! The first sewing project I made for Mak was a little stuffed sailboat rattle, so I topped the diaper cake with it and it fit perfectly with the nautical theme. I added a few paper ‘waves’ and I’m not quite sure if it made it look cuter or more cheesy. Oh well.
We had some light finger food and drinks. Chicken salad bites, veggies, fruit kabobs, cream cheese and olive sandwiches,a hot cheese loaf, petit fours, and ‘baby booties’ filled with m&ms.
The petit fours {or ‘petit forms’ as Emory calls them} were delicious, as always, and made me want to throw a party every. single. weekend. just so that I can buy more. Sallie hung around the food table most of the time. :)
Then it was time to open gifts. Baby food makers and cute little outfits…
…and Baby’s first ornament. Spanish lessons. {!!!}……and cute little Gamecock accessories!
Emory is already ecstatic about the impending arrival of her sweet cousin Mak, and she constantly asks if we can ‘buy dis for Baby Mak??’ at any and every store.
We had such a great time celebrating our little cousin and can’t wait to get our hands on him for real!
We love you so much already Baby Mak!
