Today was our 4th annual back-to-school breakfast. How have I had a kid in school for that long?
We hang a little banner. Slap some drawing paper and crayons on the table. Have a ‘fun’ breakfast {cinnamon rolls this year}. And open a few little school goodies.
Boland is heading to school for the first time, so he got a book bag and lunchbox. Watson got some new crayons, a book and a water bottle. Emory got school uniforms {to match hers!} for her American Girl dolls, colored pencils, some sight word flash cards and a water bottle.
I distinctly remember Boland hovering around the table last year, and thinking how far away it seemed when he would be taking part in this little tradition. Well here we are, and he’s all grown up. Kinda sad. {Good thing we have another wee little one on the way!}
Watson gets excited about pretty much everything these days, so he was elated that we were drawing on the table while we waited for breakfast to cook. And he was the only one that actually started school on this day, so we were deciding what we would pack for lunch and getting excited about riding home with his friend, William.
Emory, who is in the ‘remember when?’ stage, couldn’t stop asking me if I remembered different things about our breakfast last year.
We are ALL excited about getting back into the school routine. Our family runs much better on a schedule, not to mention that when we add a new little one in October, it’ll be nice for the other kids to have a little normalcy that remains while we’re adjusting at home.
With full bellies and book bags stuffed with needed supplies, we dressed and ventured out to send our first little student off to his first day of school!
We’ve been blessed with a handful of wonderful teachers and look forward to a wonderful year!
