Baby Boy- you just keep growing and growing! And each new month is truly more fun than the last! You have such a funny little personality and constantly entertain us.
Your newest trick is playing peek-a-boo. If Daddy or I hold up your lovey and say “Where’s Watson?”, you’ll bury your head and then pop right back up and smile, waiting for us to yell “There he is!”. You also love to play peek-a-boo with your sister in your high chair. She’ll get your attention on one side, then run around the back and surprise you on the other side. You’re finally catching on and it keeps you entertained long enough for me to get your food or bottle fixed.
You’ve continued to be a fabulous eater and we still haven’t found anything you don’t like. This month you’ve tried avocado, watermelon, YoBaby yogurt, crackers and cheese puffs. The doctor gave us the go-ahead to start meats in the next couple of weeks and I’m assuming you’ll take to those just fine as well. Unfortunately, you love food a little too much, and now refuse to take much more than four ounces of your bottle.
Just a short month ago you finally got the hang of crawling, only to speed right through that phase- you’re standing on everything and cruising already! As my grandmother keeps saying, “Honey, he’s just movin’ out the way for that next baby!”. That may be true, but it’s hard for me to believe you could actually be walking well before your first birthday, when Baby Girl was a good 14 months when she walked.
This eighth month also brought three (3!) new teeth: your upper two middle teeth and your bottom left tooth. You now have four big boy teeth and we’ve had to add “brushing” to your bedtime routine. I was beginning to think I should have you checked for an ear infection a few weeks ago because of the sleepless nights and tugging at your ears, but it turns out cutting three teeth at once will cause the same effect!
You are absolutely into EVERYTHING these days! You love to open doors and drawers and I constantly find you at Emory’s play kitchen opening and closing the oven door. I had to baby proof nothing with Emory, and with you I think I’m gonna have to run out and buy every little gadget made to keep you safe. I looked over the other morning and you had climbed up out of your highchair and were trying to sit on the tray. You’re definitely 100% BOY and you are surely keeping me on my toes!
The best way to describe you right now is a Mama’s Boy. You are literally glued to my hip or leg about 90% of the day. It is such a sweet thing, but it sure is hard to get anything done around the house with an added 20 pounds on my hip! You aren’t overly keen on many other people holding you either, unless you really know them. You’ve been visiting the drop-in nursery at Big Sister’s school and are finally getting used to your teachers enough that you don’t pitch a fit when I leave. As much as I love that you love me, I’m hoping you can find a little more freedom before your little brother or sister arrives!
Baby Boy, it’s hard to believe you’re 3/4 of the way through your first year, when it seems like just yesterday you were in my tummy and I was begging you to make your big arrival! I know that the months ahead will continue to be fun-filled, but it’s a little heartbreaking that the plans for your first birthday are already being made! Thanks for helping me realize that five {whole} months of sleepless nights can be worth it in the end! We love you so very much!
Happy eight months Baby Boy!
