Hero Day

The preschool had their annual ‘Hero Day’ on the older hall so Daddy took Emory to school and stayed for a little celebration with all the other daddies. Mommies were not allowed {Emory told me, “Mommy, I fink you can go to the gym or to Target or somefing. Jus daddies can come to my class.”}, so I snapped some pictures of my little girl and her hero before they left. {Emory got ‘hero’ and ‘superhero’ confused and insisted Aaron wear a cape to school.}IMG_8075 IMG_8070 IMG_8072 IMG_8074 The kids also answered a few questions they were asked about their dads and the answers were posted on the board for everyone to see.

On the portrait she drew of her daddy {with a red tie that kinda looks like a turkey gobble thing} she said her Daddy was six years old. Some kids were obviously off {six, seven, nine} and some were spot on {43, 45…}.

When her teacher asked her what Daddy’s favorite sport is, she said ‘Gamecocks’. When I asked her the same question she said ‘Baylor Bears, but I said Gamecocks to Ms. Vickie.’ and she grinned, knowing she told her the wrong team. :)

They wrote what they most liked to do with their dads and what they thought their dads did at work. Sometimes Emory will say ‘Daddy sells buildings’, but is mostly unaware of what Aaron does. One of her little friends said her dad “sits in the hot tub” at work! image And the best part of the morning was that Emory actually participated in the songs that they sang for the daddies! You might recall her Christmas program where she refused to do anything but stick her fingers in her mouth and cry. She also froze and cried during Grandparents Day at the first of the year. This was such a big feat that when I picked her up that day every teacher on the hall was congratulating me and saying, ‘I heard Emory sang!’ and ‘Ms. Vickie said Emory did great!’. We were so proud of her, but more importantly, I think she knew how great she did and was proud of herself. Happy Hero Day, Daddy!
