Back-To-School Breakfast

Just like last year, we celebrated the new year with a Back-to-School Breakfast. Yes, Watson had already attended his first day, but he didn’t know the difference and we weren’t able to squeeze it in the weekend before.

It’s our silly little tradition, but I love any reason to celebrate and the kids were all smiles when they saw their little table decorated.imageWatson had taken his school supplies to his class already, and Emory’s school supplies were ordered and will be waiting for her at school, so there wasn’t much to fill our bookbags with. Instead, I covered their table with some drawing paper and set out some new crayons {regular for Emory. chunky for Watson.} and let them color while breakfast {monkey bread! yum!} was being made. IMG_3021I think the drawing-on-the-table might become a weekend tradition. Or at least make an appearance more than at the start of school because they LOVED it! All throughout the day they would go sit and color. Quietly, I might add.IMG_3023A couple of years ago {while prepping for Emory’s art party} I bought a gigantic roll of drawing paper {think commercial wrapping paper roll, maybe bigger} from a paper supplier for $50. We use it for everything. Covering tables, making banners, wrapping gifts. I think it will easily last me a handful of years.IMG_3026

Watson got a couple of pirate plastic containers and ice packs {from the Target dollar aisle} for when he stays for lunch.image

Emory {who was looking especially rough this morning!} got some new scissors, and owl pencil pouch and a fancy rainbow ice pack for her lunch too.image

Emory and I made a Target run while Watson was at his first day of school and she picked out a utensil set for herself and Watson. Princesses for her, Cars for him. I figured I’d set the table with those since they were new and they were most excited about the new forks and spoons! Sheesh. The littlest boy didn’t get to participate much, but hopefully he’ll get to have a seat at the table for next year’s celebration!image
