As much as I love the end result, I am notsomuch a fan of being pregnant. I'm not sure if it's from having a pregnancy that resulted in miscarriage, causing me to be fearful throughout the entire 9 months, or just the fact that I hate being fat and tired and swollen and hot and grumpy and hungry...
I do blame a little of the "ready to be done" attitude on not knowing the sex. It's hard to get excited about "preparing" for the baby when you can't really prepare at all. Oh well...it is what it is...and I'm so happy to finally have less time ahead than behind me now.
We had our 20 week appointment Wednesday and everything looks great. (You may be happy to know I DID NOT gain 6 pounds this month...Yay! I only gained 2.) The heartrate is way down from what Emory's was, and this baby is measuring a couple days ahead of my due date and slightly bigger. Boy?? I think maybe.
We had the all important "growth scan" which determines (if you'd like to know. we don't.) the baby's gender, and more importantly, whether or not the baby is forming correctly. Happy to say he/she looks pretty darn perfect! 10 fingers (we couldn't see the toes), good organs (layman's terms for whatever medical words she used), and VERY active.
If we had had the ultrasound technician we have always had, the visit would have been very pleasant...infact I always look forward to seeing Carrie. Unfortunately the one we had that day poked my belly like she was trying to fit a 3 prong plug into a 2 prong socket. I even hinted at being in pain and she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. I was dreadfully sore for the next 2 days. She neglected to do a 4D ultrasound (the ones that make the baby look "real"), which we don't ever "purchase", but Carrie always gives us anyway. So you can barely tell what the ultrasound pictures are...they aren't even worth posting. On top of that she kept us for 15 minutes after the ultrasound because she couldn't figure out how to use the printer, when in reality, we didn't even need what she was trying to print!
Big sister Emory must have read my blog, because she's suddenly shaped up for fear of being shipped out. I have no pictures today, but promise some good ones, as she gets to meet Sally the Salamander tomorrow! Yeah, we don't really know what that is either, but we'll find out in the morning, and I'll at least get some cute pics of Emory and Callie (whom she is currently obsessed with! Too cute.). Until then, wish me luck getting through the summer in this heat. Today (at 90 degrees) has about done me in!
