The Week Ahead...

As of 3:00 today, I am officially on Spring Break! I could not be more excited. As always, I feel like I definitely need a week off, but for the first time I actually feel like I deserve it. Ahh, the perks of being on a school schedule!
(Look at that poor little lip. She fell and busted it yesterday. Only one day after flipping (yes, an actual somersault) out of her pack and play at the dance studio. Good thing babies are pretty unbreakable.)
One of the great things about having a blog is that I can say whatever I want, and for the most part, no one can argue with me. Most of the time you won't agree with me (and I won't be right), but it doesn't matter, because it's my blog and I can pretend to be/do/have whatever I want. Well today I'm gonna take full advantage of that and say that I have the cutest kid ever. Ever. (While I'm at it, I'll pretend that I DIDN'T gain 2-3 times the appropriate amount of weight over this last month of my pregnancy.)
As much as kids change each and every day, it seems so much more noticable at Emory's age because the changes tend to affect our day-to-day lives. She can ask for most of her normal food/snacks by name: berries (strawberries), miyk (milk), cacka (cracker), cheese...and so on.
She lets us know she's ready to "wake up" by climbing down from her bed and knocking on her door until we come get her.
She has been trying to say her name, which comes out as "Emmie" (she can't quite get that middle syllable in.), and it instantly makes her seem so much older. She has figured out how to take some of her shoes off on her own, and isn't too far away from being able to pull her pants down by herself. She gives hugs and kissed without being asked and it absolutely melts our hearts. She also knows how to do it just after you've grabbed a handful of m&m's (Remember those extra pounds I gained? Yeah.) in order to get some for herself.
Her newest favorite food is anything that comes in a little individual pack that she can hold. She loves her tiny boxes of raisins. She has also taken to saying "Thank you much!" and "Oh man!", which we aren't really sure where she learned those. And of course you've already gotten a sneak peek at her newest pose...the lean to the left. :) In her defense, I was telling her to pose in my most recent sewing project...the simple angel sleeve sundress, with the cutest boat fabric!

So as I look ahead to my week (actually 10 whole days!) of Spring Break, my to-do list is long...filled mostly with fun things, but sprinkled with just a couple of work things. No need to fear, dearest blog readers (all 5 of you), I plan to blog throughout our fun-filled week. On the menu:

  • a weekend beach trip with friends
  • sewing projects
  • making easter cookies
  • playing with play doh on the deck
  • scrapbooking
  • a zoo trip
  • planting flowers
  • a play date at Leaping Lizards
  • a weekend beach trip with my family

I'm not gonna lie. I AM PUMPED! Em doesn't seem quite as excited. But since it's my blog, we'll pretend she's ecstatic and hasn't been able to stop talking about how much fun her week with mommy will be. :)

Erin, let me know what Callie wants and I'll whip one up!! And, yes, Callie will rival Em for cutest 20 month old when she's that age. :) She's definitely the most precious 6 month old I know!! Come September I won't even be able to say Em is the cutest in the privacy of my own home!
