It is just taking a while for us to adjust to our new schedule. Baby Boy decided to trick us into thinking he could sleep a good 4 or 5 hour stretch at night, and has now reverted back to being up the. whole. {freakin'}. night. Not the ideal situation, but we're dealing with it and taking advantage of afternoon naps when we can.
The other day I decided it was probably time to get his nursery together. Until now, it's been used as the catch-all room. While I cleaned and organized, Baby Boy took a nap in his crib for the first time. Again, he's not such a great sleeper, so we needed the aid of a good swaddle, a Sleep Sheep {noise machine}, and a gigantic giraffe mat {that I totally would buy if they made one big enough for me!}.
Baby Girl "helped" me clean...as in for every one item I put away, she took out five new things. Needless to say, I didn't get very far.
I got a little more work done while she was trying to "check" on Baby Brudder.
With all the commotion, he didn't stay asleep for very long, but was still nice and quiet thanks to his monkey lovey.
The next day, while Emory was taking her nap, I tried to tackle another nursery project-recovering the shade of the floor lamp. My trusty assistant was at the ready...
...but quickly got bored with me and decided to take a snooze. {This time we only needed the Sleep Sheep and a loose swaddle...we're making progress!}
For some very strange reason, I thought it might be fun to make some cupcakes for Emory's class. The theme for September was "Apples" and we found this cute idea for apple cupcakes. In my head, the baking would be good Mommy & Emory time {which she so desperately wants right now} and it would make a good snack to celebrate the end of "Apple Month" at school. Let me just say, that was one of the worst ideas I've had in a while. The day we planned to make them was inevitably the most sleep-deprived I've been these last two weeks, Emory didn't have much interest in helping beyond eating the first cupcake and I was trying to whip out a billion mini-cupcakes between nursing Watson. I treated myself to a nice BIG glass of wine to finish these...
{The original "recipe" makes standard size cupcakes, but Em's preschool prefers mini-cupcakes to make it easier for the kids to eat them, so the proportions were a little off, but the 2-year olds didn't have the slightest clue!}
And my project for today was to try and catch up on some laundry. Baby Boy napped in the laundry basket {for real}...
While Baby Girl got into trouble, but acted like she didn't know what I was talking about when I fussed at her.
All-in-all we're doing well. Just trying to get on some sort of schedule, avoid the swine flu, and enjoy our babies despite the extreme exhaustion that has become our "normal". I'm hoping to get back into a picture-taking and blogging routine very soon, so check back soon, as I hope to have lots of pictures of the decorated nursery, Halloween costumes, Em's Fall Festival at school and lots more!

All I have to say is it couldn't be more appropriate that he is named Watson....because he could not look more like one.
Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected, and that I get to see you all soon. Much love to everybody.
I cant wait to see those sweet babies soon!! They are sooo cute and i love them!! Aunt Boo will babysit anytime you need to get some sleep:)
Hang in there.....from the voice of experience, I can't remember all those sleep deprived days...you are a great wife, mother, housekeeper, cook, seemstress, photographer, yada, yada,yada...knowing that will keep you going...I love you..Mom
You are amazing! Those cupcakes look fabulous! I so wish I could come visit and at least distract Emory for a few hours for you (and allow you a nice LONG nap). Give hugs and kisses to all~Love you!!
Amy, you're doing a great job! You made cute little apple cupcakes, took pictures, and blogged about it in the midst of newborn sleep-less-ness...I say that's pretty impressive! This, too, shall pass, and everything will be back on schedule before you know it!
Kiss those sweet babies!
