Boland’s Birth

As I look back at pictures of the day Boland was born, I find myself feeling like they are too personal to blog. {I didn’t have a blog when Emory was born, but I felt the same with Watson.} So, while most of the details and photos of Boland’s birth day aren’t included in this post, I wanted to document some highlights of the rest of our hospital stay.

We were admitted bright and early on the morning of Friday, November 12, 2010 to be induced.

Third Baby. Third Induction. I felt ready. {And very very hungry.}01 After a short and easy labor {although much different than either of the first two!} we welcomed Baby Boland at 11:36am.

{My wonderful doctor holding our newest addition}

02 He weighed in at 7 pounds 13 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. 03 Once he got cleaned up, Daddy and Boland headed to the nursery to have everything checked out. We spent the remainder of the day getting to know our sweet baby boy and introducing him to his wonderful family and closest friends.04 The next morning, Boland got to meet his Big Sister and Big Brother.

I wasn’t sure how the kids would react to their newest sibling.

Watson was surprisingly interested and, from the moment they met, enjoyed poking him!05 {Boland apparently got in a bar fight during his first night, as he woke up with a big ‘ole scratch across his face the next morning.}06 Emory was a little bit slower to show interest in her littlest brother.07 But once she did, there was no stopping her from checking out every little teeny tiny feature.11 12 She was a little unsure of what was going on with his belly button…13 But was more than happy to love on him!14 15 16 Watson wanted to take a closer look, too, but really only to poke him a little more.17 {Grandmamma and Boland}18 Emory and Watson gave hugs and headed home {with their new goodies…thanks, Lauren!} for naps.19 Mimi and Papa stopped back by for another visit.20 21 Once everyone had gone, Daddy and Boland took a short nap to get ready to watch some football.22 And they both donned their Baylor gear to watch the Bears play.

Apparently Boland was not a good luck charm for the Bears, but he definitely was for the Gamecocks!23  We had as nice a hospital stay as we could have asked for, but we were oh-so-excited to wake up the next morning to all of our discharge paperwork. We bundled our newest Baby Boy and headed home to start our life as a family of five!25
