Boland- I can’t believe you’re already two months old! I feel like we went straight from preparing for your arrival {although, who are we kidding? We didn’t do much preparing!} to you being a normal, been-here-all-along member of our family! I feel like we sorta skipped the period of adjusting to a third child, mostly because of the chaos of the holidays. Luckily you’ve been an easy baby in most ways and have been welcomed with open arms by your sister, brother, daddy and me!While you favor your siblings in many ways, you definitely have your own little look! Surprisingly your eyes are even larger than Watson’s were, and your double chin assures me you’re getting plenty to eat!
You were starting to form somewhat of a schedule at 7 weeks, but your little stay at the hospital reversed your progress a good bit and we’re now working hard to stretch your feedings, which are still every 3 hours with one 4-5 hour stretch at night. As exhausting as it is to still be getting up once or twice each night, you’re a champ at eating quickly and going right back to sleep.
At your two month well check, we were amazed to find out you weighed a hefty 13 pounds 10 ounces! It looks like you and your brother might be athletes after all! The doctor said if you didn’t start sleeping better through the night in the next couple of weeks you could start on rice cereal. {Emory started rice cereal at 6 months and Watson at 5.5 months.} While that might keep you sleeping longer, I’m not so sure I’m ready to add another thing to our nightly routine just yet, so let’s hope you start sleeping better on your own!
At about six weeks you began smiling. As is normal, it was first just a random smile here and there, but now you grin nonstop to most people that talk to you! Emory loves to make you smile, and when you do she always says, “Look, Mommy! He likes me!”.
Unlike your brother and sister, you prefer to sleep on your back. This has been so nice, as I spent many nights putting your siblings to bed on their backs, listening to them scream and scream and scream, finally flipping them over to their tummies where they would instantly fall asleep, only to leave me awake all night checking on them! For the most part, you prefer to be on your back with your arms out of your blanket.
You have been the sweetest little blessing to our family these last two months and we honestly don’t remember what it was like without you! Your sister and brother absolutely adore you and do their very best to entertain you when you’re crying. When Emory can’t get you to stop crying, she’ll say, “Mommy! I fink Baby Boland’s hungry!”. Last week when Daddy told her to feed you since you were hungry, and she said, “But my fings are too small!” {pointing to her chest}. :)
Happy two months, sweet boy!
