Emory missed her team’s first game when Aaron and I were in Mexico, so today’s game was her first. The weather was unusually cold and we had a difficult time convincing her to play. {She loved, however, that she got to be #3. She said “It’s perfect for me!”} And I had an equally difficult time convincing her to wear her hairbow!
I have zero knowledge of the rules of soccer, but luckily no one needs them for this league. Mostly the kids just run after the ball and kick it in whichever direction they’re running, whether it’s toward the goal or not!
Although Emory prefers to walk. {Surprise surprise.}
And she can’t always jump in the middle of the pack to get the ball, so the coach kindly brought the ball out and let her kick.
The league doesn’t keep score, but our team definitely did not win. We scored a few goals, but I’m pretty sure each time it was a member of the other team that scored in our goal!
Emory much prefers soccer practice to the games. Just as I expected, the chaos of all the kids running in a big pack really scares her. We’ll see how well the rest of the season goes.
Go Sparks!
