this week {from my phone}

This was officially our last week of summer! The boys’ preschool starts on Monday and Emory starts school the week after. We had a great summer, but I am so so so excited to get back into a routine.  We laid low this week and enjoyed staying in our pajamas much too late in the day {one thing I’ll definitely miss about summer!}.

I drank the last of my iced coffee stash and making more is on the to-do list this weekend. It is seriously easy and so good. image

The kids go-to toy these days is the Playmobile Zoo set. Emory loves to put the pieces together, and Watson hoards the animals and likes to tell us what each one is. They play surprisingly well together with it.image

After a small scare of a broken leg on Saturday morning {Watson was being ‘all boy’, climbing on a concrete garden statue, and it fell over on his leg}, we pulled out our $2, Walmart clearance section Slip-n-slide. The kids loved it {as did their daddy}, but you get what you pay for. Our $2 Slip-n-slide busted after about 2 hours. IMG_1695We’ve been wanting to try out a grilled breakfast pizza recipe and finally made it last weekend for dinner. If you like eggs, pizza and bacon, you should definitely try it. {And if you don’t, I don’t think I can be friends with you.} It was great!IMG_1697Of course we had to have a breakfast cocktail to go with our breakfast pizza, so blood orange mimosas it was!IMG_1696The boys and I took a trip to the grocery store, and as much as I despise the ‘car cart’, we took it for a ride. They’ve made new {or new to me} ones that aren’t nearly as huge so they’re much easier to steer. You’d think driving the car would have made Watson happier, but clearly he has major road rage in the supermarket aisles. IMG_1709The kids asked when Daddy would be home from work, and instead of playing while they waited for him, they sat on their little table in the kitchen watching for his car for over an hour until he got home! {Watson with Emory’s dress-up necklace and Madeline doll.}IMG_1711Emory helped with dinner, parmesan chicken wraps, and although it made dinner prep take a little longer, it got her excited about eating it!IMG_1715After the kids were in bed I whipped up some of the easiest milkshakes ever. Ice cream, milk and nutella. They were awesome. Nutella milkshakes are now on my ‘favorite beverages’ list. Try ‘em.IMG_1717We celebrated National Ice Cream Sandwich Day {did you know there was such?!?} on the back deck. We took some cookies we baked and threw some ice cream between, but by the time the kids took even the first bite,  most of the ice cream had melted and they were just eating two cookies squished together. But they enjoyed them nonetheless.IMG_1751Watson’s love of trucks is never ending. We even eat our breakfast from the dump truck.IMG_1752

Heading back to school means it’s time for new haircuts. Both of my big kids actually love getting their hair cut. Although I’m not sure what we’ll do if Ms. Kelly ever stops cutting hair, because they’re always more excited about seeing her than anything else. Emory is all about braids lately and she was so excited about the braided hair-do Ms. Kelly gave her. image

After breakfast with friends, a play date, and a hair cut, Emory was exhausted. We were heading to a birthday party and on the way she kept drifting off to sleep. All the sudden I hear, “mama, my eyes keep shutting and I can’t see anyfing!” My big girl has mostly given up her nap and on the rare occasion that she needs one, she tries to hard to not sleep during the day!IMG_1784

And that, my friends, is the last of our summer Insta-Fridays. {yipee!} From now on they’ll be filled with back to school, football, fall-ish things. How exciting!instafridaybutton
