this week {from my phone}

This week I was hoping to be able to relax and recover from party planning, but it seems we’ve been as crazy as ever. We have hit that point in the summer where we’re longing for the scheduled days the school year brings!

We officially have a four year old at our house!!! Emory has been looking forward to her birthday for the last 365 days, and now that it’s over, she can’t stop talking about being five! The morning of her birthday she started the days with a special pancake breakfast.IMG_1483The morning after her birthday party we finished putting away all of her birthday gifts. She received LOTS of fun, new toys, yet she was more interested in putting together a puzzle she has already done 84,000 times. IMG_1488She has had a few favorite gifts, one of which is the Madeline doll that Mimi and Papa gave her. She loves Madeline books and the  movie and has already decided to have a Madeline birthday party next year.IMG_1490Birthdays are lots of fun, but there’s always the dreaded visit to the doctor at the same time. I didn’t want to lie to her about shots, so I told her we’d have to ask the doctor when we got there if she needed any. She did wonderfully with the finger prick, then when the doctor walked in she asked, ‘is I gonna get a shot?’. The doctor told her they were just gonna talk. At the end of the appointment the doctor told her she had to be brave and get a few shots to stay healthy and she FLIPPED OUT. She kept screaming {yes, screaming}, ‘Dr. R say’d we will just talk!}. I felt horrible. She screamed and cried and kicked like I’ve really never seen her do before. Turns out the anticipation was what bothered her, because before the nurse could get the last bandaid on, Emory was already asking if she could get a tattoo now. When we got back in the car I told her how proud I was of her for being brave. She looked at me like I was absolutely crazy and said, ‘ but mama, I wasn’t brave! I cried a lot!’. She recovered quite well with the promise of ice cream, and still talks about how she liked to play the ‘games’, which were really the hearing and sight tests. IMG_1503If you like iced coffee, you should try this. It’s delicious and makes enough for weeks and weeks and weeks. Beware: your hands may smell like coffee for just as long.IMG_1505Oh my. It’s school supply time. Be still my heart. Emory’s school provides her school supplies {for a fee, of course} now, so I guess I’ll have to go buy myself some supplies. I love love love brand new pens and paper and crayons and markers and calendars…..IMG_1507If you have a girl {who is old enough to recognize numbers}, go out and buy this right now. It’s the best thing ever. Sticker-by-number tiara. It has kept Emory busy for hours! And she made a pretty little tiara to wear! I think Hobby Lobby sells them, and for the local, BeBeep. Such a cute, girly gift!IMG_1510My sweet, easy baby must be cutting some teeth. He has been attached at my hip every. single. minute. this week. He refuses to nap in his crib, and instead insists I hold him. Which would be perfectly doable if I didn’t have to wash laundry. Or make dinner. Or change diapers. Or take a shower. You get the picture.IMG_1524

There you have it. Our week via my phone. Have a great weekend!instafridaybutton

Your babies are getting so big - just adorable! And I am in the mood for some school supplies, too. Guess some things you never outgrow?
