We got home from lunch, played a little, I gave Em a bath, then she went down for a nap. She was so wired from 2 meals of pure sugar that I had to bribe her to go to sleep by telling her we were going to see the fishies at the aquarium when she woke up.
After a nice long nap, we got dressed and it was time to open some presents! (I brought her gifts down to the beach wrapped, but without bows so they wouldn't get squished in the car. Last night I was tying the bows on and she got mad she couldn't open them, so she got to open one little one...the 101 Dalmations movie...her new obsession is now "watch puppy mooofie"!)
Aunt Jo didn't actually have a gift to give, so she gathered a bunch of little things that were in the pantry and "wrapped" them in an empty BlowPop bag. As much as we made fun of her, Emory didn't know the difference and loved to open the "yoyipops"...
and juice boxes, among other things. :)
Her slight OCD proved to make opening gifts about 10 times longer than need be. She would tear off a small piece of wrapping paper, then set it aside. Then tear off another and set it aside. Eventually she got to her gift. First, an alphabet game thing for the fridge.
She opened it with excitement, then handed it to her Daddy and said "open". She waited so very patiently until he took it out of the packaging so she could play. Then she got annoyed when we took that gift away so she could open the next.
Next gift (approximately 10 minutes later) was a little play house.
With a "mommy" and a "daddy" and a "baby".
Last, she opened her pink and purple T-ball set. She loved to put the plastic baseball on the tee and swat it off, but didn't really get the idea of having to use the bat. This toy is for she and Daddy to figure out while playing in the yard.
