It was one year ago today that we welcomed you into our family.
It was one year ago that we sat in awe of the fact that we were holding our baby boy.
It was one year ago that I learned what it was like to love a son. {two hours old}
I knew the love I had for your big sister, and never understood how I’d be able to love another child as much.
I wasn’t surprised to learn that all the extra love I needed was easily found,
but nor was I prepared to experience the instant bond a mother has with her son.
You were immediately a mama’s boy.
{two months old}
Sleep didn’t come easy for you.
I spent countless hours, night after night, for the good part of five months holding you in my arms.
{three months old}
Day-in and day-out we struggled to find what worked for you.
You never seemed quite content unless you were snuggled with Mommy.{four months old}
Amazingly enough, all of the sleepless nights and fussy days were immediately worth it with even a small glimpse of your sweet smile.
{five months old}
At five months old, you suddenly realized you were ready to be “easy” and you immediately became the sweetest, most laid back baby I could ever imagine. {six months old}
You never did get over being a mama’s boy, though, and for that I am so thankful. {seven months old}
I love each and every time you reach for me.
I love when you cry when you can’t get to me.
I love that you nuzzle your little face in my neck when you get excited.
I love that you look just like your Daddy…
…that I can look at you, with your big brown eyes, and feel like I’m looking at your Daddy as a baby.
I love that although you have the sweetest disposition, you are all boy.
Where there was once fear and uncertainty of how to go about raising a boy, I now find excitement in the thought of entering the world of dirt and bugs and t-ball games and toy cars.
{ten months old}
You have fit so perfectly into our family.
The bond you have with your sister is priceless,
and I look forward to watching you as you begin your role of ‘big brother’.
Although some of the most exhausting, these last twelve months have been nothing short of amazing as we’ve watched you grow from a teeny, tiny newborn into a fun-loving, fearless toddler.
Each and every day I thank God that you are mine.
While I couldn’t imagine my life with you just one short year ago, I can’t imagine it without you today.
We can’t believe a year has flown by so quickly!
Happy first birthday, Baby Boy!
We love you more than you could ever know!
