Smash Cake #1

We’re gearing up for Baby Boy’s first birthday!

My sweet boy is turning one on Wednesday.

We’ll be celebrating on Friday evening with family and friends at his first birthday party.

We thought we’d get the week started with a little smash cake practice while at my parents’ house for Sunday dinner. Do you remember Baby Girl’s first birthday? She wasn’t so much into her cake. This little one, on the other hand, was a pro!

We sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and he had no clue what was going on. He kept scanning the room with the most confused look on his face!IMG_4157 He spotted me, and for a minute, wanted out of the spotlight!IMG_4161 But then he was given a teeny, tiny piece of cake.Starred Photos238Nothing makes this boy happier than food. Starred Photos237And if that food happens to be cake…well he’s just in heaven.IMG_4184 See? He loves it!Starred Photos236When he finished the first piece, we gave him another. This time he picked up the entire piece…IMG_4187 And shoved it into his mouth!IMG_4188 He had a little milk {whole milk from a sippy cup. we’re done with bottles. hallelujiah.} and I thought the fun was over.IMG_4191 But he jumped right back in.Starred Photos235And decided to wear a little of the cake too.IMG_4200 When the icing made it’s way into his ear, we decided it was time to stop.IMG_4203 Off to the bath. {Yes, he’s chunky, but Aunt Boo’s grip is causing you to see ficticious rolls. He’s not that fat!}IMG_4208 He had to do a little “smash cake dance” before washing up.Starred Photos234It took lots of scrubbin’ to get this boy squeaky clean!IMG_4236 IMG_4237 Starred Photos233     Although I’m wondering if the crowd will intimidate him a little, keeping him from digging into his smash cake as eagerly, I can’t wait to see our little buckaroo enjoy his cake at his party!
