Our Gingerbread House

When Watson went down for his nap, Emory and I decided to decorate her gingerbread house. imageThis is the first year that she has been able to do most of the decorating herself and it was fun to sit back and watch her do it the way she wanted. IMG_6702 She’s always been a little OCD, and this was no exception. IMG_6703   She wanted everything in a straight line. Like candies together. And if one candy was hanging a little lower than the one before, she would flip out.IMG_6707  Every 5 minutes she would stop and ask, “Mama? I can eat ‘dis"?”IMG_6712   I told her she could, but it probably wasn’t very tasty and she should just have a piece of the candy instead.IMG_6721 She stopped decorating right then. I told her there were still some undecorated places on her house and she could put the rest of the candy on there.  She said, “Mama, I’m done. I fink I’ll just eat the rest of the candy.”  IMG_6725So that was the end of the decorating and she proudly posed beside her finished gingerbread house. IMG_6735And then pretended to take a bite. I’m loving her little 3-year old humor!IMG_6738  Next year I hope we find time to decorate our gingerbread house a little earlier in the season, as I hate that I won’t be able to display it very long!IMG_6745  We definitely enjoy this activity and look forward to next year!IMG_6748
