When Watson went down for his nap, Emory and I decided to decorate her gingerbread house. This is the first year that she has been able to do most of the decorating herself and it was fun to sit back and watch her do it the way she wanted.
She’s always been a little OCD, and this was no exception.
She wanted everything in a straight line. Like candies together. And if one candy was hanging a little lower than the one before, she would flip out.
Every 5 minutes she would stop and ask, “Mama? I can eat ‘dis"?”
I told her she could, but it probably wasn’t very tasty and she should just have a piece of the candy instead.
She stopped decorating right then. I told her there were still some undecorated places on her house and she could put the rest of the candy on there. She said, “Mama, I’m done. I fink I’ll just eat the rest of the candy.”
So that was the end of the decorating and she proudly posed beside her finished gingerbread house.
And then pretended to take a bite. I’m loving her little 3-year old humor!
Next year I hope we find time to decorate our gingerbread house a little earlier in the season, as I hate that I won’t be able to display it very long!
We definitely enjoy this activity and look forward to next year!
