I haven’t wanted to accept that my baby girl is now a four year old {where in the world has the time gone?}, but I still wanted to make the day extra special for my little princess.
Before we went to bed the night before {which was SUPER late as we were up finishing things for her party}, Aaron and I dumped about 25 balloons outside of her bedroom door. Initially we thought about sneaking into her room and putting them there, but I wanted to be able to catch her reaction when she first saw them, so in the hall it was. She walked out of her room, giggled when she saw the balloons, then ran to me. She and Watson both went back to the balloons and have been playing with them nonstop.
On her way to the kitchen for breakfast she spotted her gift from Mommy and Daddy…a princess bike! A handful of her friends are beginning to learn to ride without training wheels and I kinda felt bad because she didn’t even have a big girl bike, much less know how to ride.
I’d like to make note of the fact that there are virtually no non-character options for a basic kid’s bike, and I’m slowing realizing I can’t keep commercial characters out of our house forever. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but seeing how excited it made her makes it a little easier. But I’m still not a fan.
She tested out the bell and the princess hat that she knows she has to wear anytime she rides her bike. {Does she look happy or what?!?!}
The boys stood by watching…one nonchalantly, and the other very jealous. I think I see a little boy bike in our near future. {And I can almost guarantee he’ll forgo training wheels before she will.}
We were rushing to get ready for all of our party guests to arrive, but we managed to squeeze in a special birthday breakfast of sprinkle pancakes. We left off the icing and stuck with our normal syrup due to the time crunch, but they didn’t disappoint. Somehow sprinkles make everything more special!
It was a sweet little morning of celebrating our new four year old, and Emory was super excited to continue the celebration with a princess and knight party!
