USC Cheerleading Camp

Emory and Taylor signed up for the cheerleading camp taught by the real USC cheerleaders. I knew they would be fine as long as they got to stay together, but it turned out that half of the little girls in their preschool were there as well, so they were totally comfortable. The last day they wore their matching cheerleading uniforms {which Emory thought was SO COOL!}, and even though my camera was a little foggy {going from the coolness of the car to the blazing heat outside} I had to get some pictures. They were totally happy to pose. image

They headed in to the arena to practice for a few hours before the mommies and daddies came back for their little performance.IMG_1282IMG_1283

{Each day they had to bring their lunch and a water bottle, which Emory also thought was was so neat.}IMG_1287

The girls learned all of the classic USC cheers {chants, really} which was cute because Emory knew that she had seen the real cheerleaders doing them at events.

After they performed everything, each cheerleader’s name was called and they were given a ribbon. All of the names in Emory’s age group were called except hers, and as the director was moving onto the next group, a big cheerleader yelled that she forgot Emory. They announced her name, she got her ribbon and she gave a big wave to the audience! Once we were in the car, I asked Emory if she was sad for a second when she thought they forgot to call her name. She laughed and said, ‘No mama! Dey didn’t forget me! Ms. Erika was just being silly!’.

We posed for some pictures before heading home, with promises of seeing the cheerleaders again at the games very soon.IMG_1308

Emory has been loving practicing her cheers and jumps around the house, and I even hear her adding a ‘show spirit girls!’ or ‘I can’t hear you!’ when she’s cheering, just like Ms. Erika! We’ll definitely be signing up for this camp again next year!image
