We joined the Helfers and the Grangers for a little trick-or-treating practice at the zoo. I was excited about letting the kids wear their costumes, and about seeing friends, but I’m not a huge fan of this particular event. The zoo is really crowded, most animals aren’t out and because of the time of day, I can never get good pictures {which, let’s face it, is why I take the kids to begin with!}. But we had a fun time and the kids loved dressing up as super heroes and getting some candy.
We arrived and our super heroes met up with a peacock {Callie} and Bob the Builder {James}. I missed a picture of the little bumblebee {Chloe}.
Boland enjoyed the even from the comfort of his stroller. Watson tried to spy some animals, but didn’t have too much luck. And then it was candy time! The biggest kids seemed to be pros.
And as quick as they could say ‘thank you’ for one treat, they were off to the next booth.
Watson did great trick-or-treating {but said ‘please’ instead of ‘trick-or-treat’ most of the time! good manners!}, however, he slowed us down a little as he stared at the other costumes between each booth.
I was worried that the kids would beg to eat their treats after getting each one, but that wasn’t the case.
Many of the booths gave non-edible goodies, and the few pieces of candy they did get they weren’t very interested in.
Towards the end, we made our way to the carved pumpkin patch. The jack-o-lanterns lit up along with the music and Watson loved watching them. Emory just said, ‘Ew! Dere’s a Clemson pumpkin! We don’t like Clemson!’ and walked away. Granddaddy would be proud. After walking most of the way, Watson hitched a ride in Daddy’s arms…
As we headed out, we ran into the Darby’s and said hello to a sweet witch {Taylor} and a not-so-scary pirate {Walker}. It was great to celebrate the season with friends and it was a great way to kick off the Halloween week!
