We’ve had a fun week getting into the Halloween spirit! Our costumed festivities begin this weekend and the big kids are SUPER excited.
Last Friday the kids and I met Aunt Boo, Grandmama and Aunt Kat for Aunt Kat’s wedding dress fitting. It is absolutely beautiful, but obviously I can’t post pictures just yet. After the dress fitting, the big kids headed to Camden with my mom for the day to visit my grandparents. The Little Man got some one-on-one time with mommy and daddy {which was so fun!} at dinner. Saturday was crazy busy with four parties on the agenda. We first headed to Callie and Chloe’s Very Hungry Catepillar party for their 3rd and 1st birthdays. It was precious and Erin did a great job making each and every detail just perfect. Then I dropped the kids at home and headed to a friend’s wedding shower. It was fun to hang out with a few high school friends that I don’t get to see often, although the visit was much too short. Mom and I then headed to Bebe’s 90th birthday party at the nursing home where she’s recently moved. It’s always difficult to see a loved one enter this stage of life, and while she might not be as mobile and spunky as she used to be, she was still my same ‘ole Bebe as she sipped a little birthday scotch from her styrofoam cup! Happy birthday Bebe! I love you!
I rushed home to pick up Watson to make it to our last party of the day. We joined some friends at The Little Gym for Jack’s 2nd birthday. This was where Watson busted his head last month, so I was wondering if he would be a little hesitant to go back in, but as far as I could tell he didn’t even remember! I made sure to keep a close eye on him at all times, but he was running and jumping and flipping have a great time. It was an adorable vehicle-themed party and Jack’s mommy had the cutest decorations everywhere. Watson had a difficult time not taking all of the cars and trucks down from the tables to play with them, but sweet Jack made sure to give everyone a small car in their goody bags, which made Watson’s day. Happy birthday, Jack!
After we visited the pumpkin patch on Sunday, we proudly displayed our family of pumpkins on the front porch.
At Sunday night dinner at my parents’ house, the kids conned Aunt Jo into reading books to them…for about 45 minutes.
Watson has a shoe obsession. {Stop laughing. He’ll grow out of it, right? Please say yes.}
I tried a new crock pot recipe this week. Tilapia and shrimp paella. The taste was delicious. It called for brown rice, which I’ve tried to like, but I just don’t, and I didn’t like the texture. I think subbing white rice {not as healthy, I know!} would make it much better.
I worked at the computer a lot this week and my blog is now up-to-date! Yay! While I was behind by almost two months, I hadn’t taken very many pictures on my camera lately, so I actually wasn’t too behind in blogging. Check out the new posts!
In an effort to finish Halloween costumes in time, I, ummmm, started them. We have been going in circles trying to figure out what Emory wants everyone to be. We finally settled on superheroes, which I thought was great, because they’re simple to make, and are perfect for dressing up with after. The costumes are 99% done and Emory and Watson have already worn the heck out of them around the house.
{This is how he shows his muscles.}
And am I the last one to discover this game? I downloaded it on my phone and am OBSESSED with it. It makes me want to get in the carpool lane too early, or get stuck behind someone really slow at the ATM. It’s the same concept as a crossword puzzle except less write-in-what-you-think-is-the-answer-but-discover-twenty-words-later-that-its-wrong. It tells you right away if it’s correct or not. It’s pretty spectacular. Try it.
After just some little last minute touches on costumes, we’ll be ready to gear up for Boo at the Zoo with some friends tonight! We’re so excited and I can’t believe we have a full week of Halloween festivities upon us. Holy moly…Christmas is right around the corner. Must get shopping!
