this week {from my phone}

I’m still no where near caught up on blogging, but here’s a super quick recap of our week. Super quick because the hubby and I are taking a trip {insert choir of angels. I need this.} and I have packed zilch thus far. I anticipate a frantic throwing of 84,000 clothing items into my suitcase at the very last minute. Par for the course. But I digress…

This week I decided to get organized start getting organized. First up, our meals. I’m a quarter of the way through meal planning for the entire year. Does it take a little while? Yes. But will it be worth it to not have to decide what we’re gonna eat for the next 365 days? Most definitely! It’s going better than I expected, and once I finish {hopefully next week} I’ll share more details. Is it strange that projects like this make me giddy?IMG_2132We’ve continued to have some crazy storms around these parts. Em and I were at a shower for my sister when {come to find out} a mini tornado swept through the neighborhood and dozens of trees were uprooted and falling onto homes and into yards. It was a little scary {and made me wish for my new rain boots!} but as the storm ended we were gifted  not one, but two beautiful rainbows. Emory always asks why she can’t see a real rainbow after it rains, so she was SUPER excited.IMG_2134Nothing is more exciting than a package being delivered to your front door. Which is what happened this week, but when I opened it I found gigantic spool-looking rubber things that I had no idea what they were. Turns out they were for Aaron and some outdoor project of some sort. Nothing for me. Boo. IMG_2138This little man has been a little under the weather this week. He hasn’t eaten much…IMG_2140But has miraculously found the energy to learn to climb up onto tables and such. I turned around and saw him sitting on top of the sunroom coffee table just as proud as could be of himself. Why is my baby getting so big?IMG_2142Just FYI, the salted caramel mocha is nasty. I was trying to branch out and get something other than a pumpkin spice latte, but when I did I was highly disappointed. Like, threw the whole thing in the trash disappointed. So much for trying new things. If it aint broke, don’t fix it. IMG_2146We went with some friends to see The Lion King. We smuggled snacks and drinks in our purses, donned 3D glasses and sang all the seems-like-yesterday-but-really-it-was-two-decades-ago songs. The kids loved it. I wish Disney made movies like they used to. IMG_2154This was Watson’s first movie. I wasn’t sure how he would do, but he loved it. He kept naming all of the animals and turning back to me to say ‘dat not Bambi, mommy. dat da Yion King mooofee!’. I’ve quickly forgotten the ways of a two year old, but I’m {just as quickly} remembering how much I love this stage!IMG_2155Our Saturday stroll included Watson’s red glasses this week! We’ve put them on hold for a couple of weeks, but now that his head is healing, he’s been wearing them again. Yay for healing!IMG_2158We headed to eat mexican with some friends after the disappointing Carolina loss. But all the kids wanted was to ride the merry-go-round. Is it me, or is it kinda weird that a mexican restaurant would even have a merry-go-round??IMG_2163Then Em had a sleepover with her bestie Taylor. Sleeping bags, The Little Mermaid movie, popcorn and all. A real, big girl sleepover. She slept over at Taylor’s a couple of weeks ago, which was the first sleepover for both of them, and she was dying for Taylor to spend the night at her house too. IMG_2167The slept great and were up and ready to party just before 7am. Early morning dress-up with bed head…IMG_2171We bathed all four kiddos {and this little monkey is so fun when he’s fresh and clean after a bath}…IMG_2176And headed to church. IMG_2179There was finally a little chill in the air. It called for sweaters and socks {instead of sandals} but everything felt perfect when we stood outside in the warm sun. For which we needed our red sunglasses of course. IMG_2180

I’m off to pack for a week of sleeping in {yay!} but of missing my kids like crazy {boo!}, too.

Happy Fall!
