Our little superheroes were super excited when Halloween evening finally got here and it was time to trick-or-treat!
With the kids getting older, we decided to trick-or-treat around the neighborhood, as opposed to at the grandparents’ houses. Before we headed out we tried for some pictures on the front porch. As is usually the case, Emory was posing, Watson was ‘hi-ya’ing and Boland was wanting to be held. So no decent pictures were taken.
Once Watson was ready to pose, his mask needed a little adjusting.
But it was quickly back to ‘hi-ya’ing.
A few quick ‘act like you like each other’ pictures…
One more attempt to get Super Boland in the pictures…
Then we were off {not so happily} to meet up with the neighborhood kids to get some candy!
We loaded up the wagons and strollers with some adult beverages {oh- and kids too!} and met some friends to begin.
Of course Emory was ecstatic to be trick-or-treating with Taylor, and they could barely contain their excitement when they saw each other.
And Watson enjoyed catching a ride in the wagon with Walker…that is until he spotted candy.
So Walker hitched a ride with Boland…
My little man pretty much had the hang of trick-or-treating last year, and this year he was a pro!
Of course he had two really good teachers.
He was smart enough to ask for a ride between each house, though, which cracked me up.
We made a stop at Ms. Carolyn’s house, who happens to win the ‘best candy’ award, as she gave out king-size candy bars! {I might have stolen those out of my kids’ bags.}Thanks goodness we were armed with some Ritz cracker, because the little ones got a little cranky.
The great thing about the neighborhood is that we ran into all of our little friends as we went from house to house!
We saw Batman Charlie and Kitty Cat Avery.
William {I’m not up on the Yo Gabba Gabba characters, but he was dressed as one of them} showed up and Watson was thrilled!
We ate some {more} candy, then spotted our next door neighbors, Fireman Owen…
and little Dalmatian Zim. And as soon as we laid eyes on Ladybug Ellison, she was off again in search of more candy!
It was cute to see the bigger kids helping the younger kids get too and from each house. {You know, so the adults didn’t have to put down their beers.}
And Boland is too young to eat candy, so clearly the only alternative would be to let him have a little beer.
And we were excited to see Pirate Wilkes with his little Parrot Owen…
After deciding that the kids had finally had enough sugar before dinner we decided to make our way home.
But not before saying hello to Monkey Drennon and Banana Charlotte!
Although our trick-or-treating had come to an end, the fun continued as we had a handful of neighborhood families back to our house for chili. The kids enjoyed playing together and the parents were hoping they would run off some of their sugar highs. It was most certainly a very
Happy Halloween!
