We survived our first week of summer! Luckily we had some help for a few days, as we headed to the mountains with Aunt Boo and Alex, so there were four adults to tend to the three kids and that was spectacular!
I’ve made it my goal to slowly chip away at the humongous ‘pile’ of pictures sitting on my computer and finally blog them by the end of summer. It will be no small task, as the unblogged pictures date back to October and include some big events like Vegas, Disney World and Christmas. Let’s hope I can meet my goal! Saturday morning, we packed up and headed to Blowing Rock for a few days. As we pulled into the town, we saw Mater from the movie Cars at the gas station! We had to pull over and take a closer look! {the kids, fresh from the three hour car ride, were shoeless. oops.}
The kids wanted to know where Lightening McQueen was, and while he wasn’t to be found, we did see Little Blue Truck, too! {a character from one of our most favorite books!}
When we got to the house, Daddy gave the big kids some treats…fishing rods!
Emory took some time to organize her Barbie tacklebox.
The first day’s excitement wore us out early. The big kids hit the bed…
But Boland seemed to have endless energy, and climbed on an off the bed for what felt like forever!
The next morning we ventured out and I tried to get a good picture of all three kids. This was the best I could do.
Boland was climbing everywhere, again.
And Watson was enjoying posing for pictures!
After we ate lunch, we grabbed some ice cream and candy and headed to the park. Boland enjoyed his first wax bottle.
The kids found a mini rock wall and had the best time lounging…
And climbing.
Of course we checked out the slides as well. This one went a little faster than Watson expected.
And Boland enjoyed the small slide…just his size.
Monday morning we headed to Tweetsie Railroad. Our first stop was the train ride. Watson was enamored from the get-go by the cowboys helping everyone on the train.
I didn’t take many pictures on my phone as I was using my big camera like crazy {as in almost 500 pictures!} and I’m working on posting those.
After Tweetsie, we dropped all the boys back at the house and the girls headed to the outlets to shop a little. Emory tried on some sunglasses…
And we couldn’t pass on another stop for ice cream at Kilwins!
Aunt Boo made her first purchase for Baby Kubas! Seeing those teeny tiny onesies gets me so excited about the new babies this fall!!
On our way back home we had to take a potty break. And while most of us just ran into the Chick-Fil-A, Watson had to bust out his frog potty and do his business right there in the parking lot! Potty training is crazy!
Back at home, I was working on cleaning out the freezer and found some cookie dough we bought through the preschool’s fundraiser. I cranked out four dozen white chocolate macadamia cookies, so feel free to head on over and help us get rid of them!
We’ve had swimming lessons all week, and the kids WERE NOT excited, so the daily bribe is a popsicle for not crying before or during swimming.
We’ve started seeing some success on our tomato plant and I cannot wait to try the first of our homegrown produce!
Daddy had a work dinner and I was left playing single mom for the night. The bedtime routine is exhausting with three kids, and even more so when I’m pregnant, so he was sweet enough to surprise me with some dessert when he got home. I probably didn’t deserve it since I neglected to even bathe the kids since he wasn’t there, but don’t tell him that!
We took a lunch-time stroll through Target to get a few things. Luckily none of my kids really ever get whiney when they’re late for naps, they just go into a zombie state, which makes for some awesome shopping buddies. The moment we hit the car, Boland was out and he slept right through the transfer from car to crib!
So our first week of summer was lots of fun, but already quite tiring! Hopefully we’ll get on a better schedule {one that includes naps for all!} and being home with all three kids won’t be so crazy!

I'm wishing I had myself some of those cookies right about now. Made me hungry! Your kiddos are precious! Such little climbers too. Happy Friday!
You said that you had not taken very many pictures with your phone this week but you certainly did a better job than I. Oh, and the task of sorting through 500 more...yikes. You'll deserve another brownie after that!
