{Alternately titled: ‘I Took WAY Too Many Pictures!’}
{Alternately, alternately title: ‘It’s Been So Long Since I’ve Used My Camera That I’m Having To Re-learn How To.’}
So on our trip to Blowing Rock, we spent one morning at Tweetsie Railroad. I grew up going to Tweetsie as a kid, and although it’s a lot less ‘Disney-like’ than it is in my memories, it was fun to take the kids back. Especially since Thomas the Tank was there for a visit!
The first thing we did was board the train for the famous ride!
It was pretty much this little boy’s heaven!
Then we found a real ‘Indian home’. {I think Emory was scared she was gonna get in trouble for calling it a ‘teepee’!}We waved as Thomas went around again…
Then found the Thomas bouncy house. This may have actually been one of their favorite parts, sadly. But they were able to run and jump and burn off a ton of energy before we headed to the Can-Can show at the Saloon.
We looked at our maps and made a pitstop to meet Sir Topham Hatt.
As we made our way to the Saloon, we stopped for some tattoos. Thomas for Watson…
Rosie for Emory…
And Percy for Boland. That tatttoo was the best meltdown distraction I’ve ever seen. As soon as he’d start to get upset, we’d say, ‘Boland, where’s your tattoo?’ and he’d immediately stop and point to his arm.
We sat to watch the Can-Can show, and although the talent was severely lacking {to the point that I kinda felt embarrassed for them!}…
Emory was way into it. And clapped at the end of each little performance.
We hit the small section of rides and took the boats for a spin.
Then took a ride on the airplanes.
I love this second picture, because the poor kid behind them was freaking out, and they basically rode the entire ride watching him. I spent the entire time worrying that he was about to lose his lunch and the creepy mountain man still wasn’t gonna stop the ride.
And the kids second favorite was definitely the playground. {I laugh at the fact that we travel and take them places, then they just end up most excited about the things we could’ve done in our own town.}
Boland went down the slide about 84,000 times. And loved it. And screamed when we finally left.
We found a poster with our respective tattoo trains and had to get a picture.
And we had almost hit our we haven’t eaten lunch and it’s already past nap-time meltdowns…
When we came across the gift shop and pretend horses. The big kids practiced ‘ye-haw!’ing…
And once we bought our cowboy and indian goodies we played in the covered wagon.
We had a fun day and the kids were just the right combination of tired enough that we got our monies worth but still in good moods. Aunt Boo on the other hand was being quite a pill so we contemplated leaving her in jail. We decided to set her free in the end, mostly because we enjoy the free babysitting.
Our little Indian princess kept the beat as we headed back to the car…
…and we were made by all three kiddos to promise to come back soon!
