I realize some (as in my husband) don't think going 9am-12pm just two days a week actually counts as "school", but whatever you want to call it, Emory had her first day of 2-year old preschool today. In my humble opinion, anything that requires $100 worth of "school supplies" can be called school. What in the world is she gonna do with 8 glue sticks in the span of 9 months?!?!?! I guess I'm not one to talk, as I stocked up on about 10 packs each of markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc when they were on back-to-school clearance. As happy as I was to be buying school supplies, you should have seen my excitement when I heard the words "book fair" last night at her orientation. I. Can't. Wait. And with every book you buy, your child's teacher gets points to buy books for their classroom, so the more you buy the better!!
Fun fun fun.
Miss Priss has loved her new elephant book bag...but only looking at it. We tried to put it on the other day and she flipped out. So this morning I had to use a little m&m bribery and it worked beautifully.
Can you tell she was oh-so-proud of her new "bu-bag"?
I was trying to do pictures before we got to school so that I wouldn't be "that" mom.
M&Ms got the bookbag on, and promising to get to go out on the playground got her in the car.
Not without first smiling with Daddy. With blue m&m's in her teeth.
And a kiss. (He went with us to drop her off, but he drove a separate car so she though he was going to work.)
And our last picture before getting to her classroom. Daddy made her walk like a big girl down the hall.
She did great at first. Walked right up to the door, into the classroom and we put her bookbag in her cubby. (How stinkin' cute is it that she has a cubby?) The teachers prefer the "push them in the door and leave" method, which was probably better, because as soon as we did that she starting wailing. I shut the door and told myself "do not cry" about 100 times. Aaron turned to me and said "You're just wanting to get upset". Really? Did he really just say that to an 8-months pregnant mama who just dropped her firstborn off for her first day of school...or daycare...or playgroup...or whatever he wants to call it?!?!?!? Needless to say I was no longer sad. Just mad.
Fast forward the next 3 hours (which I filled with my 36 week checkup. You know that one where they "check" you? Ouch. Apparently I forgot that small part of Emory's pregnancy. I honestly can't tell you what the doctor said, I was in so much pain. But everything looks great and the baby's head is down, which is fabulous. We also found out that my doctor has decided to vacation the ENTIRE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER!!! Not cool. Looks like I'm gonna have to settle for someone else delivering Number Two. Sad. Then I swung by Starbucks and the grocery store, just in time to head back to pick Emory up.).

I Got to Emory's classroom door and Miss Dawne was holding her. She was wimpering. I jokingly asked if she did that the whole time. And the answer was yes. On and off she cried throughout the whole morning. She said the one time she was totally content was on the playground, and when they told her it was time to come in (she was playing in the little car), she told her teacher, "no. I drivin.". Cute? Yes. Okay to say to the teacher? No. We'll have to work on that.
She's now taking a much deserved nap.
I may do the same. I'm off to dream of all the wonderful books that I'll be purchasing at the Book Fair. :)

Love the pictures!! Keeps getting cuter everyday:)
You made it through without tears? I am so proud! She looked absolutely precious, and the pink bookbag is a hit. Take it from a (out of work but STILL) teacher--She will probably use more than 8 glue sticks :o) Love you both!
Way to go Amy, I mean Emory!! :)
I can't believe she already had her first day of school- sooo cute!
Aww! I'm so proud of both of you girls-I know it was hard for you not to cry!! Em looks so cute for her first day of school!!
I can't beleive she is already in school! It made me cry just thinking about it.
I love that she told the teacher "No, I drivin"...just so the teacher knows who's boss from Day 1!
