Per my 38-week doctors appointment on Friday, Number Two won't be arriving much earlier (if any) than Big Sister Emory did. Everything looks great, but apparently my "buns" are perfectly happy in their "oven", and being induced doesn't seem to be an option before 41 weeks. As much as I'm ready to meet this little one, it's not a bad thing that I'll most likely get to be present during the first week of classes at the dance studio.
While there doesn't seem to be any progress in getting this baby birthed (is that even a word?), I made TONS of progress on my "to-do now" checklist this past week. I am oh-so-happy to announce that I've accomplished all that I set out to do before the baby gets here. Tons of other things have been added to my "to pass the time" to-do list, but if I don't get to those, no big deal.
First off...the crib bedding. Remember the little fiasco I encountered when realizing what the crib looked like? Well, I had to change much of the design for the bedding, and the final product is missing little things like pleats on the crib skirt, extra piping, etc, but I'm happy with how it turned out after some adjusting.
In the event of a baby girl, her bedding is pink with a small ivory leaf print. The bumper has an ivory ruffle along the top and the ties are ivory as well. The crib skirt (since you can't see it much) is just a solid panel of the same fabric.
(I was tying and untying and retying trying to see how I liked the bows best, so they aren't ironed perfectly in this photo.)
In the event of a baby boy, he has animal-circus-ish bedding. The bumper is an ivory linen print with a darker tan piping around the top. The bumper ties match the piping (and I can't decide between bows or knots!!).
The crib skirt (again, just large, flat panels since the pleats wouldn't show through the rails) is a red and cream medallion print. This is totally not what I would ever invision myself using for a boy nursery, but I really love the way the two fabrics look together, and have found some cute things to coordinate with this bedding if it's a boy!

For now, the baby girl bedding has been put aside, and the baby boy bedding is staying in the crib, as I really feel like this may be a boy!
Next on my checklist was finishing the "going home outfits". They weren't too difficult to make since I had already made the same pattern before, but doubling up and making two did take some time. I loved how David Robert's had his little initials on it, but I hate to monogram both of these and then have to toss the one I don't use. The monogramming will just have to wait until we got home and settled, I guess. I am very happy to have a special outfit to bring Number Two home in, however, and if I read his reaction right ("Awwww, look...a little boy pilgrim outfit and a little girl pilgrim outfit!"), I think Aaron appreciates them as well! :)
I've had a couple of outfits in the works for Emory for Fall, and while I didn't get to all of them, I wanted to make sure and finish at least one before the baby gets here. I have always adored this style dress, and was excited when I found the pattern. I used a chocolate brown corduroy with tiny aqua dots and added her monogram in an aqua thread. The collar is piped and the sleeves are gathered and banded. The dress buttons down the back and has a "belt" that also buttons in the back. I love it and hope it fits Big Sister when the weather gets a little cooler.
To complete my checklist, I'm totally packed for the hospital, the cradle is set up in our room, the infant car seat is out of the attic, the gifts that Emory and Number Two "bought each other" are wrapped and ready to go, and I've washed/sterilized/set-up the last bit of newborn necessites that Emory and I bought at Babies R Us last week.
I'm feeling VERY pregnant these days, but fortunately (or unfortunately?!?!) I've been distracted, as I've been keeping busy at the dance studio as we gear up to begin classes next week. Aaron leaves for his "boys trip" Thursday morning and gets back Sunday, and while Em and I are super excited to have some friends coming to visit us during that time, pray that Number Two doesn't decide to make his or her entrance until Daddy is home safe and sound! Hard to believe we'll be a family of four in no time at all!!!!

I am oh so impressed, Amy! You did such a wonderful job on EVERYTHING, just as I knew you would! Some time down the road I would love to take classes from you-I need to learn how to make dresses for little Kendell!
Everything looks great Amy! I can't wait to see if you get to use the boy or girl bedding! :)
If for some crazy reason number 2 does make an appearance, I promise not to get lost on the way to the hospital! Hehe! I'm completely jealous of the going home outfits and Emory's precious new dress. I already have a bow in mind!
I am so impressed!! They are beautiful! Quick question - I actually picked that red fabric to use in the boys' playroom in our new house - the elephant print would go perfect as well, do you mind telling me where you bought it? Hope you are feeling well!!
cant wait for baby #2!!!
Elizabeth, I found the animal linen at Forest Lake Fabrics, but ended up ordering it online for cheaper. It's Braemore Le Cirque in Dune (that's the color). Hope that helps! You'll have to send me a picture of the boys' playroom once it's done!
