Emory is finally overcoming her fear of the water. She just finished the first two weeks of swimming lessons, and although we’ll stick with them through the summer, she’s made tons of progress already!
The first full week she did nothing but cry. Before the lesson started. During the lesson. And afterwards when I’d say, “Tell Ms. Dawn we’ll see her tomorrow!”. She still whines when she has to do something she doesn’t like, like float on her back, but she hasn’t cried once during this second week! She, somewhat voluntarily, will go underwater…
And hold herself up on the wall.
By the end of this week she was swimming {well, doggy paddling} short distances to the steps!
Because these lessons are safety-focused, they spend a lot of time learning to “save” themselves if they ever fall in the water. She’s learned to jump in the pool, turn around and swim back to the wall.
I’m excited to see her finally enjoying being in the pool and looking forward to seeing what she learns by the end of the summer! Way to go Baby Girl!
