We celebrated the weekend of the Fourth at the lake with family. We always have a blast and this year was no exception. For the first year, Emory was old enough to really enjoy playing with all of her cousins. She was excited to pack her sleeping bag and attempt her first “sleepover”…which really only consisted of the girls watching cartoons in their jammies, snuggled in their sleeping bags on the den floor, before they retreated to bed with their mamas.
During the days, the kids were decked out in their swimsuits and wading in the lake. After our first night, we woke up {from not actually sleeping much} and Watson and I made a quick trip back to Columbia to have the doctor check out his ears. He had a double ear infection {the first for either of my kids!}, so we picked up an antibiotic and some ear drops from the pharmacy, then headed back to the lake. Baby Boy wasn’t quite himself and needed some snuggles from whomever was willing to hold him.
There was some fierce competition going on in the water between the adults!
Emory finds it hilarious to make this face when we ask her to smile…
Baby Boy was determined to try and swim with a little help from Aunt Boo…
But he quickly remembered he didn’t feel so he hung out in the swing.
While I stayed up at the house to get my sick Baby Boy down for bed, everyone else headed down to the shore to shoot fireworks. From what I hear, Emory loved the fireworks, until a big one went off and made a loud sound! She tried to attempt the sparklers, but after a second said they burned her hand. {Thanks for taking some pictures Aunt Boo!}
The next morning mom used the berries we picked a few days earlier at the blueberry farm to make a blueberry cobbler.
Baby Boy failed at his attempt to lend a hand in the kitchen…
But the Maddy and Grace enjoyed watching the process!
A lot of the extended family comes each year for a reunion on the 4th. We enjoyed the traditional, HUGE reunion lunch and visiting with family we don’t see often.
The girls headed back out to the water to play. Then up to Granddaddy and Grandmama's porch to enjoy some jelly beans! We tried a silly picture…
But Emory wasn’t too happy with that!
Granddaddy, Baby Watson and Mommy enjoyed some time on the swing.
After a fun-filled weekend, we packed up and headed home. Thank goodness Emory’s birthday party is just around the corner, because all we’ve heard since we’ve been home is “When can I play with my friends again?”!
