While Daddy got up early to go pick up breakfast for everyone, we pulled out the crayons to make some Mother’s Day cards for Grandmama and Mimi. I love that Emory is at the age where I can write something on another piece of paper and she can copy it. She was able to write ‘Happy Mother’s Day! Love, Emory” all on her own! Twice!
She’s definitely left-handed, which I know isn’t a huge deal, but I sort of wish she wasn’t. Growing up I always heard my left-handed friends complain about how writing was so much harder and most school supplies are made for right-handed people. It doesn’t help that I’m right-handed and feel like I won’t be able to help her with writing if she needs it.
Sorry, grandmothers. Watson was less interested in making cards and more interested in playing with blocks. {Although at the end of the day I found one of the cards were left in the sunroom, so I’m not sure who didn’t get theirs! Oops!}After church we headed to lunch at Mimi and Papa’s house. Papa had just cleaned the koi pond, which the kids love, so we headed out while lunch was on the grill.
We tried for a family picture, but it was clearly a flop. One day I’m gonna get a perfect {actually I’ll settle for just mediocre at this point} family picture, and when I do I’m gonna blow it up to life-size to hang on my wall. Just warning you. After lunch we headed home for naps and kissed Daddy goodbye as he left for a fishing trip. The kids and I headed to my parents’ house for another delicious meal, although I didn’t manage to get any pictures.
As exhausted as I am to have spent the last {almost} four years birthing them, nursing them, diapering them, bathing them, chauffeuring them, cooking for them and disciplining them, I wouldn’t trade these three little blessings for the world. I’ve been praying for healthy and happy children for as long as I can remember and I am humbled by the way God has answered {and hopefully continues to} those prayers.
Happy Mother’s Day, not only to our grandmothers and Godmothers, but to all those that love my babies as their own! We are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful women!
