For all the kids with summer birthdays, Emory’s preschool celebrated with a special Chapel and classroom parties.
During Chapel, all the birthday kids got to stand up front while the rest of the preschool sang them ‘Happy Birthday’. {see Emory? just to the left of the pastor’s hands.}After their lesson {which was centered around the fact that they would never again be together with this same group of friends, but they would always be connected by the memories and friendships. Not what I needed to hear during an already very emotional last week of school. I cried. a lot.} the students brought to the front their jars of peanut butter {once a month is ‘peanut butter chapel’ where the children donate peanut butter to the local food bank}. After Chapel the class headed back to their room for a party. The four ‘birthday’ kids got to take turns being the line leader.
Emory and her little crush this year, Carson, got to be buddies. I’m sad to see she gets this excited over holding his hand!
{Notice she’s hanging onto his hand for dear life. He looks to be not interested one bit.}
In class we lit birthday candles on the cupcakes.
And even better than having cupcakes was getting to be the table washer! Who knew? Apparently the allure wears off somewhere between school and our house, because she never volunteers to clean the table at home!
It was a sweet sweet occasion celebrating Taylor, Carson, Palmer and Emory’s summer birthdays and a fun addition to the last week of school. Happy {early} birthdays!

So sweet! As soon as I read what the sermon was about, I thought, "Man, that's tough stuff! I bet she cried!". Sure enough!
And I love Carter's shirt! Any chance you could find out where the appliqué is from? :)
